Re: “Seattle’s homelessness response in peril as Trump aims at ‘Housing First’ ” (Nov. 17, Challenge Homeless):
The native authorities response to the homeless problem has up to now resulted in additional homelessness and a whole lot of tens of millions of wasted taxpayer {dollars}. The writer of this text states that having steady housing is vital to discovering employment. Whereas which may be true, being mentally sick or addicted makes the purpose moot.
If the underlying causes of being homeless are usually not addressed, free housing might be nothing greater than one other wasteful boondoggle. Please give up attempting to make this a housing problem when it’s clearly a psychological well being/substance abuse problem for the overwhelming majority of those that are homeless. They desperately need assistance, and free housing with out remedy shouldn’t be the reply.
