    Denmark PM says Europe can improve defences ‘now’

    PARIS: Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated in Paris on Wednesday (Jan 28) that Europe wanted to enhance its defences “now” to develop into much less reliant on the USA for navy safety.

    Europe’s alliance with the US through NATO has been shaken by President Donald Trump’s risk to grab Greenland from Denmark, which he has since rowed again.

    However NATO chief Mark Rutte advised EU lawmakers on Monday to “carry on dreaming” in the event that they thought Europe may defend itself with out the US.

    In response to Rutte’s feedback, Frederiksen conceded it could be “extraordinarily troublesome” for Europe to defend itself proper now.
