    GENEVA: The Center East warfare has pressured the World Well being Organisation (WHO) to droop operations at its international emergency logistics hub in Dubai, the company’s chief mentioned Thursday (Mar 5).

    Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus voiced alarm on the battle which erupted Saturday with US-Israeli attacks on Iran, and warned that the “influence goes past the instantly affected international locations”.

    “Operations at WHO’s logistics hub for international well being emergencies in Dubai are at present on maintain attributable to insecurity,” he informed a press convention.

    Final yr, the logistics Dubai hub processed greater than 500 emergency orders for 75 international locations world wide, Hanan Balkhy, the WHO’s Jap Mediterranean regional director, informed reporters.

    “Humanitarian well being provide chains at the moment are being jeopardised,” she warned.

    Balkhy defined that “the hub’s operations are quickly on maintain attributable to insecurity, airspace closures and restrictions affecting entry to the Strait of Hormuz”.
