A very wild scene erupted Thursday on the Georgia Capitol when State Senator Colton Moore was arrested after trying to enter the Home chamber.

All of it was captured on video and shortly went viral on social media.

Moore, who was beforehand banned from the chamber for daring to allege corruption from former Home Speaker David Ralston, was making an attempt to attend Governor Brian Kemp’s State of the State handle.

Ralston was changed by Republican Home Speaker Jon Burns, who then ordered Moore be banned except he issued a proper apology to Ralston’s household and supporters.

It’s unclear how that ban has any authorized foundation. Or foundation in actuality, for that matter. Barring a senator from the chamber through which they’re meant to do the work of the individuals will not be how consultant our bodies work.

And Moore was set to problem the order.

    Colton Moore Forcibly Eliminated

Sen. Colton Moore, a Republican, tried to defy the ban, resulting in a bodily altercation the place he was pushed to the bottom by Home workers and Georgia State Patrol.

Moore tried to argue that Home guidelines couldn’t supersede the constitutional obligation of a joint session. He’s proper, morally if not ethically.

Because of the confrontation, Moore was charged with willful obstruction of regulation enforcement officers, a misdemeanor, and was taken into custody.

It’s clear that one man within the video pushed Moore to the ground. At which level they contend that issues had gone too far. Colton agrees.

“It has gone too far,” mentioned Moore. “I’ve an obligation to be in that room. I signify 200,000 individuals in northwest Georgia who duly elected me to be right here right now.”

    Embarrassing For Georgia

It’s past embarrassing for the state of Georgia to see lawmakers scuffling within the hallways as a result of one tried to ban their colleague after they offended one in all their cronies. Burns ought to be ragingly embarrassed.

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones (R) seemingly agreed, condemning the arrest.

“All elected 56 senators and 180 representatives deserve the chance to meet their accountability to attend joint classes of the Normal Meeting,” Jones instructed the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He continued: “There may be actual work to be completed this session and the main focus ought to be on delivering for the individuals of Georgia as an alternative of private grievances and egos.”

Burns has defended the motion, stating, “the integrity and decorum of this Home are non-negotiable-period.”

However Burns and the Georgia Republicans may need one thing else unsettling their britches. Colton Moore is the person who initiated the inquiry into Fulton County District Legal professional Fani Willis following her authorized actions in opposition to former President Donald Trump.

Moore was hit with an indefinite suspension from the Georgia Senate Republican Caucus on account of his advocacy for this investigation. The caucus criticized Moore, asserting that his marketing campaign misled each the general public in Georgia and nationwide, escalating tensions and hostility whereas additionally endangering the security of his fellow caucus members and their households.

Moore had branded Republicans who opposed the investigation as “RINOs” (Republicans In Title Solely), and he rallied his supporters to push for Willis’s investigation.

It seems he was proper. Willis was pursuing unlawful, malicious prosecution. And the RINOs didn’t need to step in to do something about it.

Mockingly, Burns ought to be banned from the chamber till he points an apology to Moore.
