    Vietnam says more tariff negotiations with US needed

    HANOI: The US and Vietnam have concluded a second spherical of commerce negotiations on tariffs and agreed to proceed the talks to handle unresolved points, Vietnam’s commerce ministry stated in a press release on Thursday (Might 22).

    The second round of talks passed off in Washington on Might 19-22 involving Vietnam’s Commerce Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and the US Commerce Consultant Jamieson Greer, the Vietnamese ministry stated on its web site displaying footage of conferences.

    “On the finish of the negotiation spherical, Vietnam and the USA made optimistic progress, figuring out teams of points on which consensus was shut, and teams of points that wanted additional dialogue to succeed in consensus within the coming time,” the assertion stated, with out elaborating.

    It famous that talks might want to proceed in early June.

    Vietnam closely depends on exports to the US and faces one of many highest “reciprocal” tariff charges set by the White Home at 46 per cent.
