“The HIMARS is a land-based precision strike asset that has been in service with the Singapore Armed Forces since 2010,” stated Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) on Friday in response to CNA queries.
“Because the Singapore Armed Forces continues its modernisation efforts, the HIMARS stays a important part of its operational capabilities, and can bear upgrades to make sure it stays able to assembly evolving operational and coaching necessities within the years forward.”
The proposed sale consists of help gear, technical documentation, spare elements, coaching, US authorities and contractor technical help, engineering and logistics help companies and area workplace help.
The US State Division stated the choice to promote the improve kits “is not going to alter the fundamental army stability within the area”.
Nevertheless, it’ll enhance the potential of Singapore, which Washington sees as a “strategic companion that is a crucial drive for political stability and financial progress in Asia”, to fulfill future and present threats.
