Re: “Trump says he doesn’t want Somalis in the U.S., urges them to go back to their homeland and fix it” (Dec. 2, Nation):
We’re retired nurses who’ve labored with the Somali neighborhood for many years. We’re appalled by the dehumanizing feedback made by President Donald Trump. We have now seen our metropolis, area and nation be enriched by the presence of Somalis in our colleges, our workplaces and our neighborhoods. We have now seen the Somali youngsters that we cared for grow to be well being care staff caring for sufferers right now.
And we write as Jews. We keep in mind, with ache and worry, the facility of phrases that characterize a gaggle of individuals as lower than human and know that these phrases can pave the street to tried annihilation.
We name on the readers of this letter to face with us in solidarity with and protection of our Somali neighbors.
