    MOSCOW: Russia on Wednesday (Sep 24) dismissed claims that it breached NATO’s airspace as “hysteria”, a day after US President Donald Trump stated the allies ought to shoot down Russian jets in the event that they violate their territory.

    NATO nations say a number of Russian fighter jets and drones have violated European member states’ airspace in latest weeks, accusing Moscow of testing the alliance’s boundaries.

    “We hear such exaggerated hysteria about our army pilots allegedly violating some guidelines and invading somebody’s airspace,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated, including that the claims had been “unfounded”.

    Trump on Tuesday stated NATO nations ought to shoot down Russian plane violating their airspace as he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the United Nations.

    NATO jets intercepted three Russian MiG-31 fighters final week after they entered Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland.

    On Monday, Denmark needed to shut the airport within the capital Copenhagen after it stated unidentified drones caused dozens of flights to be diverted or cancelled, disrupting hundreds of passengers.

    “Our army aviation complies with all flight guidelines and rules, is guided by them, and adheres to them within the strictest method,” Peskov instructed journalists at a each day briefing.

    NATO stated on Tuesday it was “too early to say” whether or not drone flights over Denmark had been linked to latest Russian violations of the alliance’s airspace.
