Referring to our beloved Enchantments as Washingtons’s Disneyland is inherently problematic, as if it had been a fantasy joyride reasonably than a pristine wilderness in want of care, respect and restoration. The pattern of file numbers of day hikers and backpackers in search of pure magnificence is each inspiring and regarding, with reported littering, polluting, leaving a hint and destroying fragile ecosystems affecting all that we maintain expensive.

Regardless of unjust cuts in funding to parks, trails and environmental safety, it’s time that we acknowledge that you just alone are our greatest hope. Littering, feeding wildlife, bringing canines the place prohibited, unlawful campfires, and leaving human waste in an irresponsible method will depart an irreparable influence on uncommon and delightful locations in our state, nation and world. We’re all “only one individual” and should think about the collective influence of our particular person selections and actions.

One ranger and devoted volunteers mustn’t and can’t be liable for preserving our trails and parks clear. We should all think about our half and do what we will when visiting enchanting locations.
