BEIRUT: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun mentioned on Wednesday (Jun 17) that his nation’s negotiations with Israel in Washington have been impartial of the United States-Iran deal to carry an finish to the Center East battle.

Lebanon and Israel have been holding direct talks in Washington since April, looking for to finish the hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and separate their battle from the broader regional warfare.

However the announcement on Monday of the US-Iran deal, which Iran and mediator Pakistan say consists of Lebanon, has reshuffled the playing cards.

“The assurances we’ve got obtained, and what we insist on, is that Lebanon’s path within the negotiations is impartial, although we’re actually for a ceasefire and for any nation that helps us, together with Iran,” Aoun mentioned, in line with a press release from his workplace.

However “interference in Lebanese affairs just isn’t permitted”, he added.
