    Iraq detains politicians, officials in anti-corruption crackdown

    BAGHDAD: Iraqi safety forces arrested politicians and senior officers early on Sunday (Jun 28) as a part of a broader anti-corruption marketing campaign ordered by Prime Minister Ali al‑Zaidi, a authorities spokesperson stated.

    Elite Counter Terrorism Service models raided houses inside Baghdad’s closely fortified Inexperienced Zone in in a single day operations, detaining a number of suspects, authorized and safety sources stated.

    Iraq‘s state information company INA, citing a senior official, stated 47 suspects have been detained, together with members of parliament and authorities officers.
