GUATEMALA CITY: Authorities in Guatemala have ordered evacuations in some southern communities across the Fuego volcano, which is erupting.
Claudinne Ogaldes, govt secretary of the Guatemalan catastrophe administration company, CONRED, confirmed on Monday (Aug 4) night to The Related Press that the eruption began on Monday morning and elevated throughout the day, which led to evacuation orders for 2 villages across the mountain.
Reside photos of the scenario confirmed massive clouds of fuel and ash over the volcano as lava and pyroclastic flows rolled down the slopes at nice pace.
“The eruption will increase its explosiveness degree. A fountain of lava of between 200m and 300m has developed over the crater,” in response to a report from the Guatemalan Seismology, Vulcanology, Climate and Water Institute.
