    STONE INTERVENES

Stone, a South Florida-based conservative commentator and long-time Trump adviser, had for months advocated for Hernandez’s launch. He mentioned on his radio present on Sunday that he had given Trump Hernandez’s letter.

On the present, Hernandez’s spouse, Ana García de Hernández, mentioned Stone’s advocacy for her husband had made a “enormous distinction” within the president’s choice.

The White Home official mentioned Trump had not seen the letter earlier than saying his intent to pardon Hernandez on Friday.

Stone didn’t reply to requests for remark.

The letter from Hernandez appeared designed to attraction to Trump‘s sense of injustice and was infused with flattery, calling the president “Your Excellency” and referring to their shared “conservative values.”

US Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate’s high Democrat, blasted Trump‘s choice in remarks on the chamber’s ground on Tuesday.

“It might be dangerous sufficient by itself for Donald Trump to pardon this horrible drug trafficker, however for him to pardon this drug lord whereas placing 1 / 4 of our navy within the Caribbean, proper close by Honduras, to struggle drug trafficking, makes an utter mockery of Donald Trump‘s supposed need to root out all drug trafficking,” Schumer mentioned.
