Re: “This Seattle Democrat doesn’t know all that’s best for Eastern WA” (Might 20, Opinion):

As a Seattle resident, I discovered the Tri-Metropolis Herald’s editorial compelling. I share the heightened concern over Washington Senate Majority Chief Jamie Pedersen’s determination to dam Home Invoice 1210, which sadly impacts not simply the Tri-Cities however all of Washington.

Whereas Sen. Pedersen represents a Seattle district, actions that stifle vital financial improvement, over 1,000 jobs and billions in funding within the Tri-Cities (particularly within the promising clear nuclear power sector) are shortsighted for our complete state. The prosperity and help of 1 area bolsters us all. HB 1210, which responsibly addressed regulatory timelines for important nuclear tasks with native fiscal accountability, deserved a debate for its potential to strengthen Washington’s power independence and economic system.

I urge Sen. Pedersen to rethink his stance, acknowledge the Tri-Cities’ distinctive experience, and help a extra collaborative method to statewide financial and power alternatives. Such cooperation advantages each Washingtonian.

    Wyatt Rieden, Seattle
