Britain on Sunday (Jun 15) named Blaise Metreweli, a profession intelligence officer, as the primary feminine head of the Secret Intelligence Service, the overseas spy service often known as MI6.

Metreweli, 47, who’s at present MI6’s head of expertise, often known as “Q”, joined the Secret Intelligence Service in 1999, and has spent most of her profession in operational roles within the Center East and Europe, the federal government stated in an announcement.

Richard Moore, the present chief of MI6, will step down within the autumn after a five-year tenure.

“I’m proud and honoured to be requested to steer my service,” stated Metreweli, who takes on some of the highly effective jobs in Western intelligence and will probably be identified by the code identify “C”.

MI6, based in 1909, joins the opposite most important British spy companies, the home spy service MI5, and the intelligence communications company GCHQ, in having appointed a feminine head.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who’s at present in Canada for the Group of Seven summit, stated Metreweli’s appointment comes when Britain is “dealing with threats on an unprecedented scale”.

“I do know Blaise will proceed to offer the superb management wanted to defend our nation,” he stated.
