Re: “Woodland Park Zoo to hold its first adults-only play day” (July 22, Leisure):
There’s nothing enjoyable about this for the animals in Woodland Park Zoo. Each animal confined on the zoo, whether or not captured or bred, is wild. They preserve all their wild instincts — all of which is denied to them. Relying on the species, they’re denied courting, mating, migrating, hibernating, looking, operating, swimming, foraging, and so forth. And for what? A couple of minutes of our leisure?
We are able to find out about animals and their conservation with out inflicting struggling to those who fill zoo cages. It’s time our zoo leads the captivity business right into a compassionate future.
