LANCON, France: Firefighters have been battling a number of wildfires fanned by robust winds in southern France on Thursday (Jul 2), because the nation grappled with parched circumstances following Europe’s latest heatwave.
Inside Minister Laurent Nunez stated three blazes, two of which broke out on the western fringe of the Mediterranean port metropolis of Marseille, had scorched a mixed space of 1,210ha.
The World Meteorological Group final week warned that the document temperatures that baked Western Europe for over per week in late June would worsen the chance of wildfires, given the outlook for sustained excessive temperatures, very low humidity and dry vegetation.
