WASHINGTON: Secretary of State Marco Rubio mentioned on Tuesday (Mar 31) that the USA “goes to need to re-examine” its relationship with the North Atlantic Treaty Group (NATO) as soon as the war against Iran has concluded.

“I believe there isn’t any doubt, sadly, after this battle is concluded, we’re going to need to re-examine that relationship. We will need to re-examine the worth of NATO in that alliance for our nation,” Rubio mentioned to host Sean Hannity on Fox Information.

He added that “finally” it will be a call for President Donald Trump to make.

The highest US diplomat mentioned he had been “one of many strongest defenders of NATO” whereas he was within the US Senate as a result of he “discovered nice worth in it”.

A lot of that worth was in having navy bases in Europe that allowed the US navy “to venture energy into totally different components of the world”, Rubio mentioned.

“If now we have now reached some extent the place the NATO alliance implies that we will not use these bases, that in actual fact we will not use these bases to defend America’s pursuits, then NATO is a one-way avenue,” he added.
