    China says Irish PM to visit Beijing, Shanghai

    BEIJING: Eire Prime Minister Micheal Martin will go to China on the invitation of his counterpart Li Qiang from Sunday (Jan 4) to Thursday, Beijing’s overseas ministry stated.

    Martin will go to Beijing and the financial powerhouse of Shanghai, assembly with Li in addition to President Xi Jinping, China’s overseas ministry stated in a press release Saturday. 

    Martin’s go to to China could be the primary by an Irish taoiseach since 2012.

    “Lately, the China-Eire strategic partnership for mutually useful cooperation has loved strong improvement,” the assertion stated. 

    “Our two sides have at all times handled one another with mutual respect and equality… By the upcoming go to, China stands able to work with Eire to boost political mutual belief, broaden mutually useful cooperation.”

    The overseas ministry additionally stated it hoped the upcoming go to would promote “sound and regular development of China-EU relations”.

    Martin’s go to will overlap with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s trip to China. Lee will even be within the nation from Sunday to satisfy his counterpart Xi.
