    Japan, Australia to deepen defence ties

    TOKYO: Japanese and Australian ministers met Friday (Sep 5) in Tokyo and agreed to deepen defence ties, days after Beijing hosted a massive military parade.

    Japan is strengthening cooperation with US allies within the Asia-Pacific area that, like Tokyo, are concerned in territorial disputes with China.

    The bilateral assembly of international and defence ministers follows the Beijing navy parade which was attended by leaders together with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

    Analysts say the line-up was Chinese language President Xi Jinping’s imaginative and prescient of a brand new world order, sidelining america.

    “Reaffirming the significance of working collectively to stop unilateral adjustments to the established order by drive, we agreed to strengthen cooperation,” Japanese defence minister Gen Nakatani mentioned after the Tokyo talks.

    “Moreover, we reconfirmed the strengthening of cooperation with the Philippines, India, South Korea, ASEAN, Pacific nations, and others,” Nakatani informed journalists.

    Public broadcaster NHK mentioned the 2 nations agreed to conduct superior coaching between their militaries, and improve collaboration in financial safety areas resembling vital minerals and vitality.
