Re: “Gluesenkamp Perez won a Trump WA district. Now she faces leftist heat” (Could 17, Native Information):

Up to now two election cycles, U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez defeated a Republican candidate in Washington’s third Congressional District — a district that had not despatched a Democrat to the Home since 2008. The victory was razor skinny, in opposition to an opponent who rejects the efficacy of vaccines and embraces the large lie that President Donald Trump gained the 2020 election.

For Democrats, Gluesenkamp Perez is an uncomfortable distinction in coverage positions. In a deep pink district, she champions reproductive rights and support to Ukraine whereas concurrently declaring that she wouldn’t help an effort to ban assault rifles. Not too long ago, Gluesenkamp Perez supported the SAVE Act, which requires authorities identification to vote, sparking calls amongst Democrats for her ouster — the identical Democrats who refuse to know why the working class has fled their occasion. Gluesenkamp Perez may clarify it this manner: “Respect your constituents and battle for his or her wants.” She understands {that a} chief doesn’t need to abandon her core rules when supporting unpopular views.

It comes all the way down to this: Are we going to wallow in our purity or win elections? Ask Gluesenkamp Perez; she will inform you what’s working for her and the individuals of the third District.
