India rolls out simplified labour codes to modernise outdated legal guidelines.
India, house to the world’s second-largest workforce, is implementing its largest labour modifications in many years. The federal government has compressed dozens of legal guidelines into 4 simplified codes.
It says the overhaul will entice funding. This shall be important after US President Donald Trump imposed 50 % tariffs on Indian items.
The reforms embrace minimal wages, equal pay, and expanded social safety. However unions say the codes will solely strengthen employers’ management and accuse the federal government of “misleading fraud”.
So, will the modifications improve India’s world competitiveness by streamlining guidelines? Or might they create new dangers for staff and productiveness?
