    Qatari diplomat Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi has welcomed the peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), saying that it got here after a number of rounds of talks, a few of which have been held in Doha.

    “Qatar enjoys wonderful relationships with each nations and has earned the belief of each nations as a mediator and worldwide associate attempting to resolve these points,” he stated.

    The Reuters information company reported earlier this month that Qatar offered a draft peace proposal to Rwanda and the DRC after negotiations in Doha.

    On Friday, the US Division of State stated the US, Qatar, the African Union and Togo “will proceed to interact each events to make sure implementation of the obligations specified by the settlement”.

    The settlement has sparked hopes of ending the battle within the DRC, the place the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group has been advancing within the resource-rich east of the nation.
