    Pope Leo XIV spoke with Apollo 11 astronaut and moonwalker Buzz Aldrin on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the primary time in historical past males landed and walked on the moon, which passed off on July 20, 1969. An historic American feat that has not been matched since in 56 years.

    Aldrin later posted, “Anca and I had been grateful and touched to obtain the very best blessing immediately, from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV on the 56th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon touchdown.     Earlier Sunday, Aldrin posted concerning the moon touchdown:

    July 20, 1969. “Contact mild, engine cease.” The Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle touched down at Tranquility Base on the Moon.

    Just a few hours later, Neil Armstrong and I stepped foot on the Moon, with Michael Collins orbiting close-by.
