PANAMA CITY: Close to the doorway to the Panama Canal, a monument to China’s contributions to the interoceanic waterway was torn down Saturday evening (Dec 27) by order of native authorities.
The transfer comes as US President Donald Trump has made threats in latest months to retake control of the canal, claiming Beijing has an excessive amount of affect in its operations.
In a shocking transfer that has been criticised by leaders in Panama and China, the mayor’s workplace of the locality of Arraijan ordered the demolition of the monument in-built 2004 to symbolise friendship between the nations.
