National Highways has announced that the interchange between the M25 and A3 is set to be closed beginning 9pm Friday, May 16, until 6am on Monday, May 19.

The closure is the latest scheduled disruption that has taken place as part of a £317m project to demolish a bridge that is no longer in use.

Here is what the latest closure means for motorists.

    What is this latest modification?

The Wisley interchange between the M25 and A3 is set to be closed all weekend.

While the slip roads and roundabout at junction 10 will be blocked, the M25 and A3 will stay open.

Drivers won’t be allowed to switch from the A3 to the M25 or the other way around.

The closure is necessary to give National Highways time to complete the gyratory’s final resurfacing project.

This is the final scheduled full-weekend closure of the Wisley Interchange as part of a long-term effort to widen the A3 at junction 10 with the M25.

When will the M25 closure take place?

The next closure will take place from 9pm Friday, May 16 until 6am on Monday, May 19.

National Highways has advised motorists to consider the impact of the closure on their travel plans and potential detours

Expect traffic on the M25 and in the vicinity during the weekend.

Diversion routes are anticipated to take between nine and 12 miles to complete, with light traffic each diversion route should take between 20 and 30 minutes.

What alternative routes can I take?

Other options include taking the M3, M23, or A24 to enter the M25 from the south, or entering the M25 from London or the north of Surrey via the A316 and M3, A23 and M23, or the A24.

The National Highways have established a total of six diversions. Some will pass through Leatherhead, West Clandon, Old Woking, and the Byfleets.

The Gatwick Express provides a non-stop train service to and from the airport and London Victoria, which departs every half hour and takes just 30 minutes.

There is also a Thameslink train which stops at central London stations including St Pancras, Blackfriars, London Bridge and Farringdon.

People travelling to Heathrow can take the Heathrow Express, a non-stop train service that runs to and from the airport and London Paddington. It runs every 15 minutes and takes just 15 minutes.

Heathrow is also on the Elizabeth Line and the Piccadilly Line, stopping at terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
