GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories: Hamas officers expressed shock on Saturday (Jul 26) at US President Donald Trump’s accusation that the group “did not really need” a ceasefire and hostage release deal for Gaza.
Trump made the allegation of Friday a day after Israel and the US stop oblique negotiations with Hamas in Qatar that had lasted almost three weeks.
“Trump’s remarks are significantly stunning, particularly as they arrive at a time when progress had been made on a number of the negotiation recordsdata,” Hamas official Taher al-Nunu informed AFP.
“Thus far, we’ve got not been knowledgeable of any points relating to the recordsdata underneath dialogue within the oblique ceasefire negotiations”, he added
Nunu, who’s near Hamas’s most senior political officers, mentioned he was “stunned” that Israel and the US had left the talks.
Saying the recall of US mediators on Thursday, Trump’s particular envoy Steve Witkoff accused Hamas of not “appearing in good religion”.
