In “In pro-Trump Hoquiam, a once promising levee plan is shelved” (June 10, A1), I really like the optimism of the pro-Trump group leaders and politicians that the cash for his or her now-canceled flood-control challenge will likely be ultimately reinstated by the present federal authorities.
As a consulting civil engineer who has labored on many federal flood-related tasks, I do know firsthand that when the contract is canceled the cash is gone for good. The federal government won’t ever admit that it made a mistake and reauthorize the funding. At greatest, town must reapply and undergo the entire utility course of once more. Even then with the Federal Emergency Administration Company refusing to allocate funds for catastrophe help and different needy tasks, I might not depend on any federal assist for the subsequent 4 years.
Whether or not or not that is President Donald Trump’s fault in all probability will depend on your political affiliation.
