Re: “EPA to cut its scientific research office; many face job loss” (July 19, Nation & World):
“I noticed the perfect minds of my era destroyed by insanity, ravenous hysterical bare”: Poet Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl” captured what I felt when Environmental Safety Company Administrator Lee Zeldin stated he’s destroying the EPA as a result of he needs to make it cheaper for industries to function.
Over time, I’ve recognized many earnest younger scientists who selected to work within the public sector to assist make the surroundings protected and resilient. Touchdown a job on the EPA was a plum. And now they are going to be tossed into the streets.
The fox is answerable for the henhouse — gutting rules and chopping off the very science of individuals’s survival. This travesty have to be resisted and the scientific analysis and scientists supported.
Working folks have to claw again the facility and orient authorities providers to the general public curiosity, for humane rules for all, not revenue for just a few house owners of trade and financiers.
