    Death toll in Iran’s Bandar Abbas port blast rises to 65

    DUBAI: The demise toll from a major explosion in Iran’s most essential container port of Bandar Abbas rose to at the least 65, with over 1,200 injured, state media stated on Monday (Apr 28), as firefighters battled a blaze that Iranian officers stated was now below management 48 hours after the beginning of the hearth.

    Saturday’s blast befell within the Shahid Rajaee part of the port, Iran’s largest container hub. Efforts to place out the following blaze have continued since with sporadic fires breaking out because of wind and flammable items within the containers, some releasing poisonous emissions within the space, in response to state media.

    “After placing the large hearth below management, rescue operations are underway, the variety of the lifeless on this incident has reached 65,” Iran’s state media stated, citing the governor of Hormozgan Province, by which Bandar Abbas is located. “Eradicating containers might take as much as two weeks”, it added.
