SYDNEY: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was pressured to evacuate his official residence on Tuesday (Feb 24) over a safety menace, police stated.
Albanese was evacuated from The Lodge, his official residence within the capital Canberra.
Nationwide broadcaster ABC reported the menace noticed Albanese taken to a separate location for a number of hours earlier than he returned after nothing suspicious was discovered.
In an announcement, the Australian Federal Police stated they’d responded to “an alleged safety incident” round 6pm (3pm, Singapore time).
“An intensive search of a safety institution was undertaken and nothing suspicious was positioned,” they stated, including there was “no present menace to the neighborhood or public security”.
The prime minister’s workplace advised ABC that they belief the police “and thank them for his or her work”.
