    How do I contact you
    throughout the ocean,
    throughout chilly depths
the place mild travels by way of glass.

    Not copper—fibers. Optical.

By means of liquid glass, by way of flickering mild
that carries you in fragments. Mild damaged into pulses.

You say: it’s simpler this fashion. What are we lacking like this? You smile.
    Protected distance.

    I say: community.

Alerts slide beneath the ocean, by way of cables thinner than belief, sooner than contact,
    slower than longing.

We stand alone, collectively. Synchronous, but aside. Icons change pores and skin, latency replaces breath.

This distance protects us. Silence that feels intentional.

The whole lot is underneath management so long as nothing really hurts.

    And we select it
as a result of it shields us
from what we would turn out to be if we truly met.

    You’re my counterpoint. My response.
    My reflection
    at a secure distance.

Beneath the ocean, nodes keep in mind paths.

Packets shake fingers with out our bodies.

    If we get misplaced,
we resend every thing, with error,
    with noise,
    with hope.
