Amongst these making an attempt to return Saturday was Samia Helles, a 26-year-old from Gaza Metropolis.

She instructed AFP that she had travelled along with her three kids to be among the many first again.

“Up to now, I do not know whether or not my home remains to be standing or destroyed. I do not know if my mom is alive or lifeless. I have not been in a position to contact her for a month,” she mentioned.

Jibril al-Jumla, 39, mentioned he has been “right here with my spouse, three daughters and 4 sons” since Friday, ready to cross to the north.

“We had been displaced in October 2023 to Khan Yunis and moved a number of instances from there. We lived a lifetime of humiliation, starvation, concern and terror.”
