    WELLINGTON: New Zealand has detected the primary case of H5 chook flu, after a migratory seabird was discovered on a seaside in Wellington, officers stated Wednesday (Jul 15).

    H5 chook flu has precipitated extreme illness and excessive dying charges in poultry and wild birds worldwide.

    “New Zealanders are being requested to be alert after a single ocean-going seabird, a brown skua, returned a confirmed constructive take a look at for H5 chook flu right now after it was discovered on Petone seaside in Wellington,” stated Biosecurity Minister Andrew Hoggard.

    There was no proof of transmission between wild birds, or mass mortality in wildlife, he added.
