    WASHINGTON: The US navy introduced a contemporary wave of strikes towards Iran on Sunday (Jul 12), saying it aimed to “proceed degrading” Tehran’s capability to assault business ships within the Strait of Hormuz.

    The most recent salvo started at 9pm GMT on Sunday (5am, Monday, Singapore time), US Central Command (CENTCOM) mentioned on X, including that President Donald Trump “has directed the strikes to carry Iranian forces accountable”.

    Tehran condemned the most recent wave of US assaults on its territory, saying that they had “rendered futile” all of the diplomatic efforts of the previous couple of months.

    “The US regime has additionally induced the return of insecurity within the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of worldwide business delivery by brazenly interfering within the strategy of Iran implementing the mandatory preparations within the Strait of Hormuz,” a overseas ministry assertion mentioned.

    Oil costs jumped on Monday as Iran expanded strikes on Gulf states following assaults by the US, threatening vitality shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
