    British forces intercept Russian shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to cross English Channel

    British armed forces on Sunday (Jun 14) intercepted a Russian shadow fleet oil tanker trying to move by means of the English Channel.

    The vessel SMYRTOS was boarded by Royal Marine Commandos and specifically educated regulation enforcement officers from the Nationwide Crime Company, Britain’s Ministry of Defence mentioned in a press release.

    The vessel shall be held and monitored off the south coast as investigations proceed, the assertion mentioned, including that enforcement motion in Britain’s territorial waters was carried out in accordance with home and worldwide regulation.

    British Prime Minister Keir Starmer mentioned that he had directed the interception.

    “This profitable operation delivers yet one more blow to Russia and reminds these fueling Putin’s battle in Ukraine that we are going to not allow them to disguise,” Starmer mentioned in a publish on X.
