    Iran military warns will block Red Sea if US naval blockade continues

    TEHRAN: Iran’s navy warned on Wednesday (Apr 15) it could block commerce by means of the Purple Sea, together with the Gulf and Sea of Oman, if the US naval blockade on Iranian ports continues.

    In a press release carried by Iranian state tv, the pinnacle of the navy’s central command centre mentioned if the US continues with its blockade and “creates insecurity for Iran’s industrial vessels and oil tankers”, it should additionally represent “a prelude” to violating the ceasefire.

    “The highly effective armed forces of the Islamic Republic is not going to enable any exports or imports to proceed within the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Purple Sea,” mentioned Ali Abdollahi.

    He added that Iran will “act decisively to defend its nationwide sovereignty and its pursuits”.

    America has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports since Monday after US-Iran talks over the weekend in Pakistan failed to supply a deal to finish the struggle.

    However maritime monitoring information on Tuesday indicated that a number of ships crusing from Iranian ports had crossed the Strait of Hormuz regardless of the blockade.

    On Wednesday, Iran’s Tasnim information company quoted unnamed knowledgeable sources as saying that delivery from Iran’s southern ports had continued.

    It added that Iranian “industrial vessels have set sail for numerous locations world wide” throughout the previous 24 hours.
