    BAKU: Azerbaijan’s international ministry lodged an official protest with the Iranian embassy on Thursday (Mar 5) after a pair of Iranian drones flew throughout the border into Azerbaijan and injured two folks at an airport within the Nakhchivan exclave. 

    “This assault on the territory of Azerbaijan contradicts the norms and rules of worldwide regulation and contributes to elevated tensions within the area,” the international ministry mentioned in an announcement.

    “We demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran make clear the matter within the shortest doable time, present a proof and take the mandatory pressing measures to stop such incidents from recurring sooner or later.”

    The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan has been summoned to the international ministry to obtain a proper observe of protest, Baku mentioned.

    The assertion mentioned Azerbaijan reserved the suitable to hold out “applicable response measures” towards Tehran.

    Azerbaijan’s ministry mentioned one drone fell on the terminal constructing of the Nakhchivan Worldwide Airport, which is roughly 10km throughout the border from Iran, and one other drone landed shut to a college constructing in a close-by village.

    A supply near the Azerbaijani authorities informed Reuters a fireplace had began on account of the incident.

    Video footage shared by the supply confirmed black smoke rising close to the airport and harm to the skylight contained in the terminal constructing.
