WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will maintain talks Monday (Feb 27) in Israel on Iran, the State Division introduced, as the USA builds up forces for a possible strike on the Islamic republic.

The highest US diplomat will head to Israel simply as the USA tells non-emergency workers to depart Israel, elevating suspicions that US President Donald Trump plans to go forward with threatened strikes.

Rubio will maintain talks Monday and return Tuesday, the State Division stated.

Rubio “will focus on a spread of regional priorities together with Iran, Lebanon and ongoing efforts to implement US President Trump’s 20-Level Peace Plan for Gaza,” State Division spokesman Tommy Pigott stated.

Rubio doesn’t plan to deliver reporters on his aircraft, in a uncommon break with a long time of precedent for US secretaries of state.

The journey comes after the USA and Iran held a new round of talks in Geneva on Thursday as US considerations beginning with Iran’s contested nuclear program.

Mediator Oman reported progress however the USA has stated little concerning the talks and Iran referred to as on the United State to drop “extreme calls for” to achieve a deal.
