BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis: Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned on Wednesday (Feb 25) that Iran should negotiate on its missile programme, a day after President Donald Trump alleged Tehran was working on rockets that would hit america.

“I’d say that the Iranian insistence on not discussing ballistic missiles is a giant, huge drawback,” Rubio advised reporters on the eve of new talks between america and Iran.

Rubio, nevertheless, steered away from describing whether or not the talks in Geneva can be a make-or-break second in deciding if america assaults Iran.

“The president needs diplomatic options. He prefers them drastically,” Rubio mentioned on a go to to the small Caribbean nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

As for the talks, “hopefully they’re productive, however ultimately we’ll must have conversations about greater than only a nuclear programme”.

On a possible strike on Iran, Rubio mentioned: “The president’s made no choice on that, so I do not know if Thursday’s the important thing date for that. I believe progress must be made.”
