    Iran foreign minister met IAEA chief ahead of nuclear talks

    Iran has repeatedly threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation in opposition to any assault, which might choke a fifth of world oil flows and ship crude costs sharply greater.

    The waterway connects the largest Gulf oil producers, equivalent to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

    Iran‘s Revolutionary Guards have carried out a drill named “Sensible Management of the Strait of Hormuz”, to check the readiness of the guards’ naval items to guard the waterway, the semi-official Tasnim information company mentioned on Monday.

    Deputy Overseas Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi on Sunday signalled Iran‘s readiness to compromise on its nuclear programme in return for sanctions reduction, telling the BBC that the ball was “in America’s court docket to show that they wish to do a deal.”
