    Italy updates Arctic stance as Greenland tensions escalate

    ROME: Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni urged NATO on Friday (Jan 16) to develop “a coordinated presence” within the Arctic area to forestall tensions and reply to “interference by different actors”, amid escalating tensions amongst Western allies over Greenland.

    In a letter learn in the course of the presentation of an Italian authorities paper on the Arctic, Meloni stated the area was turning into more and more necessary because of the growth of recent sea routes and its enormous “power and mineral sources”.
