WARNINGS FOR MOSCOW
Barrot warned that Russia should settle for a ceasefire or face “new sanctions that can exhaust its financial system”, alongside intensified European help for Ukraine. He added that Macron and Zelenskyy have been in frequent contact, with the Ukrainian chief final visiting Paris on Nov 17.
The talks will happen as Zelenskyy manages political turbulence at residence after dismissing his influential chief of employees Andriy Yermak following a serious anti-corruption raid.
Regardless of the upheaval, Barrot stated Zelenskyy retains “full legitimacy to steer Ukraine in the direction of peace.”
The struggle, now in its fourth 12 months, started after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
