RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazil, the world’s greatest exporter of hen meat, on Friday (Nov 7) welcomed China’s transfer to elevate a ban on imports of the product after an outbreak of hen flu earlier this yr.
China and the European Union suspended imports of Brazilian chicken meat in Might following the outbreak.
Brazil stated in June it was freed from hen flu and would resume exports.
“Regularly, all main importers of hen meat resumed purchases,” the Brazilian Animal Protein Affiliation (ABPA) wrote on its web site on Friday.
“Lately, the European Union introduced the resumption of shipments. In the present day, China … reopened its ports to Brazilian merchandise.”
The ABPA stated there had been a “broad and intense diplomatic effort” by the Brazilian authorities to renew exports.
Earlier than the suspension, China had been the most important importer of hen meat from Brazil.
