    A look inside Egypt’s newly unveiled Grand Egyptian Museum | Arts and Culture News

    After 20 years and an estimated price of $1bn, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) opened its doorways to the general public on Tuesday, only a few days after the official opening ceremony on Saturday.

    Thought to be the world’s largest archaeological facility for a single civilisation, the museum is situated 2km (1.2 miles) from the pyramids of Giza and 8km (5 miles) from the capital, Cairo.
