WASHINGTON: Republican US President Donald Trump mentioned on Monday (Nov 3) he’ll prohibit federal funds for New York Metropolis if Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the town’s mayoral elections on Tuesday, and urged supporters to vote for former Governor Andrew Cuomo.

If Mamdani wins the election, Trump mentioned on Reality Social it was “extremely unlikely that I will probably be contributing Federal Funds, apart from the very minimal as required”.

Polls present Mamdani main in opposition to Cuomo, who’s working as an impartial after shedding to Mamdani within the Democratic major, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.

Trump mentioned a vote for Sliwa would solely assist Mamdani and urged his supporters to again Cuomo.

“Whether or not you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you actually haven’t any selection. You need to vote for him, and hope he does a incredible job,” Trump wrote.

Republicans have attacked Mamdani’s candidacy all through the marketing campaign, with Trump casting the self-described democratic socialist as a communist.

Mamdani, a Uganda-born state meeting member, shocked political observers on Jun 24 with a convincing victory within the major.
