Re: “Tucked away in a forest prison, kids at Echo Glen have been forgotten” (Sept. 28, Opinion):

I’m writing to precise my dismay and frustration with the grossly unfair editorial printed by The Seattle Occasions editorial board.

I work proudly at Echo Glen as an English instructor. I’m enthusiastic about serving to the youth by not solely offering them with a high quality schooling in my classroom, however offering them with compassion, heat and a secure place to study. After getting employed at Echo Glen, the group drew me in instantly; I not solely really feel empathy for the youth who reside there, however I’m impressed by the eagerness and experience of the Issaquah College District employees I work with.

I bristle on the line that “schooling there’s spotty at finest”; it doesn’t precisely painting the wonderful work being finished by the 2 dozen devoted educators who’re dedicated to serving to among the most susceptible kids in our group.

To grossly misrepresent the work of tireless civil servants is disappointing and maddening. These of us who work at Echo Glen are tireless advocates for these with no voice and need to be acknowledged for our day by day willpower to assist the youth change their lives for the higher.

    Elizabeth Gorey, Issaquah
