MOSCOW: A passenger airplane carrying 49 individuals crashed in Russia’s far japanese area of Amur on Thursday (Jul 24), authorities mentioned.

The plane, a twin-engine Antonov-24 operated by Angara Airways, was headed to the city of Tynda from town of Blagoveshchensk when it disappeared from radar, regional governor Vassily Orlov mentioned on Telegram.

A rescue helicopter operated by Russia’s civil aviation authority later noticed the burning fuselage of the airplane on a mountainside about 16km from Tynda.

The helicopter noticed no proof of survivors from above, native rescuers mentioned.

The Amur area’s civil defence company mentioned it was dispatching rescuers to the scene.

“In the intervening time, 25 individuals and 5 items of apparatus have been dispatched, and 4 plane with crews are on standby,” it mentioned.

In response to Russia’s TASS information company, the airplane crashed on account of crew error throughout touchdown in poor visibility.
