Re: “Drones better than fireworks for Fourth of July, Times readers say” (July 4, Native Information):

Greater than 70% of survey respondents favor drone shows to fireworks. I didn’t know drone shows had been an choice and that Des Moines does drones as an alternative of fireworks. Drone shows are quiet and fewer polluting. Why aren’t we experimenting with Fourth of July drone shows in “inexperienced” Seattle?

The article solutions that query: Seafair planners favor fireworks. They aren’t involved about real-life noise impacts on individuals, or pets and wildlife. They aren’t involved about air air pollution. They only go for that “nostalgic feeling” they are saying “everybody” shares. Everybody?

Seafair has the identical narrow-mindedness in regards to the Blue Angels present that can rip throughout our skies Aug. 1-3. “Get able to witness probably the most heart-stopping, gravity-defying, and adrenaline-pumping aerial performances ever seen!,” says the Seafair web site. Prepare is true — whether or not you just like the Blue Angels or not, town of Seattle has permitted the air present but once more. Refugees and veterans with PTSD; individuals with developmental or neurological problems; individuals with most cancers, coronary heart or lung circumstances — in addition to pets and wildlife — our well-being is ignored whereas Seafair indulges in that “nostalgic feeling.” Time to get actual.
