Re: “ ‘Agonizing’: How Alaska’s pivotal Republican senator decided to vote for Donald Trump’s bill” (July 1, Nation):

Isn’t it fantastic that Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, bought what she needed for her state in alternate for a sure vote on a invoice she known as “not ok for the remainder of the nation”?

“Do I like this invoice? No,” she advised a reporter.

She may have embraced late Sen. John McCain’s honorable precept and voted for the good thing about the entire nation, for the good thing about all inhabitants of all 50 states.

Shouldn’t being a senator, or any elected official, include a ethical and moral obligation that transcends partisan politics?

    James U. Behrend, Bainbridge Island
